Systems engineering, cybersecurity, and assessments.

Briarcrest Solutions works with government and commercial organizations across the life of a system. We help teams design and integrate it, put sensible security around it, and get an independent read on how it is actually doing.

What we do

Three practice areas.

Most of our work sits in the overlap between them. A system that needs to be integrated usually also needs to be accredited, and an assessment tends to surface engineering work. We are set up to carry all three rather than hand you off partway through.

01 / SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Designing and integrating systems that have to work with other systems

We support the engineering side of a program from requirements through sustainment. That includes the architecture work up front, the integration in the middle, and the documentation that keeps the system maintainable after we leave.

  • Requirements development and analysis
  • System and solution architecture
  • Systems integration and interface design
  • Data engineering and pipeline development
  • Applied AI and automation
  • Modernization and technical debt reduction
  • Test and evaluation support
  • Engineering documentation and lifecycle support
02 / CYBERSECURITY CONSULTING

Security that fits the organization you actually have

We help teams stand up a security program, make architecture decisions they can defend later, and prepare for the audits and incidents that eventually arrive. The work is sized to the organization rather than to a reference model.

  • Security program development and governance
  • Security architecture and design review
  • Cloud and identity security
  • Policy, standard, and procedure development
  • Risk Management Framework and ATO support
  • Incident response planning and tabletop exercises
  • Vulnerability management program design
  • Advisory and fractional security leadership
03 / ASSESSMENT SERVICES

An independent read on where a system actually stands

We assess against whichever framework applies to you, verify controls rather than take them on faith, and write the result so the people who have to act on it can. Technical testing is part of this when the question calls for it.

  • Security control assessment against NIST SP 800-53 and 800-171
  • CMMC readiness and gap analysis
  • FedRAMP readiness support
  • Risk assessment against NIST CSF and ISO 27001
  • Penetration testing and vulnerability assessment
  • Independent verification and validation
  • Third party and supply chain review
  • Audit readiness and evidence preparation
How we work

How engagements usually go.

Every program is different, but the shape of the work is consistent enough that you should know it before you start.

01 / SCOPE

Understand the problem

Scoping is a conversation rather than a form. We want to understand the system, the constraint driving the timeline, and what a good outcome looks like to you before anyone talks about price.

02 / PLAN

Agree in writing

You get a written scope, a schedule, and a price before the work starts. If something material changes along the way, we raise it and agree on it with you instead of adjusting the invoice at the end.

03 / WORK

Do the work ourselves

The person who scoped the engagement is the one delivering it. Anything urgent reaches you when we find it rather than waiting for a report, and you always know what we are doing that week.

04 / DELIVER

Hand over something usable

Deliverables are written for the people who have to act on them, with enough detail to reproduce what we saw. For assessments, a retest of remediated findings can be built into the scope.

About

A small firm, on purpose.

Briarcrest is set up to keep experienced people on the work instead of on a bench. That limits how much we take on at once, which is the trade we have chosen and the reason the work holds up.

The person you talk to does the work

Whoever scopes your engagement is the one delivering it. There is no transition to a different team once the contract is signed, and no one is learning your system on your budget.

Nothing to sell you

We do not resell software and we do not take referral fees. When we recommend a tool or a change in approach, that recommendation is the whole of our interest in it.

Comfortable on both sides

The same work often has to satisfy a contracting officer and a commercial engineering team. We are used to writing for both audiences without producing two separate documents.

Written to be used

A deliverable that gets filed and forgotten was not worth producing. Ours are specific about what we did, what we found, and what we would change, so the next step is obvious.

Federal contracting

Working as a prime or a subcontractor.

Briarcrest Solutions LLC is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business. We support federal customers directly and team with primes on engineering, cybersecurity, and assessment scopes.

Start here

Tell us what you are working on.

A short description of the system and what is driving the timeline is enough to get started. We will come back with scope options and a price, usually within a couple of business days. If it is not a good fit, we will tell you that instead.
